99/1 Principle - The Mango Principle
We focus on achieving significant impact by prioritizing high-leverage actions and removing distractions .

The 99/1 Principle, AKA Mango Principle, is about achieving great results by concentrating efforts on a few high-impact actions. This concept is inspired by Miyazaki Mangoes, where small mangos on the tree are pruned to leave just a few that become exceptionally valuable.

99/1 is about making a significant impact on one leverage point, not just hitting targets but achieving a knock-out effect. For example, stating, "I want to fight climate change," is plausible, but impact works both ways. Without focus, you can end up making minimal progress while expending significant resources and time, essentially getting knocked out by the very challenge you sought to tackle.  99/1 It’s about making meaningful changes where you can genuinely influence outcomes. The Mango Principle is the way of identifying and creating qualitative, beautiful, and useful things that matter most to you and the world around you.

99/1 It's the way of thinking, a state of the mind.

99/1 framework:

1.Application:

  • Identify High-Impact Actions: Focus on actions that will yield the greatest results. They are at the very top, 1% of all your tasks.
  • Avoid Distractions: Identify and say no to lesser tasks that dilute your efforts.
  • Personal Accountability: Begin with personal changes that set the stage for broader impact.

2.Critical Thinking:

  • Analyze Strengths: To make an impact, know your strengths and gifts. Focus on what gives you energy and where you can excel.
  • Fix Bottlenecks: Identify and address the bottlenecks that hinder your progress.
  • Focus on Key Areas and Tasks: Concentrate on the most important task, the one you’re most likely to procrastinate on. Break it down into small parts to make it manageable.

3.Continuous Prioritization Framework:

  • One Important Thing: Ask yourself, what is the One Thing I can do today to advance my progress?
  • Maintain Presence: Continuously evaluate whether what you are doing right now is the best use of your time.
  • Concentrate Attention: Focus on the most important thing you can do at any given moment.
